Meet Hixson Drug
William Hixson established Hixson Drug in 1923. He was very involved in community betterment and was elected to the Missouri State Senate in 1932. Ford Haguewood, a pharmacist, became the manager of the pharmacy and later purchased the business in the late 1940's.
In 1979, Carl Hefner, purchased Hixson Drug from the Haguewood family and, in 1985, the pharmacy moved from its location on the Ozark Square to 201 S. 3rd Street., a building that had been a Dairy Queen. It remained at that location until 2006 when it moved into its current location in the Plaza South Center. I started with Hixson Drug as a relief pharmacist in early 2005 and in 2012 purchased the pharmacy. We continue to strive to meet the needs of our customers and bring the highest quality pharmaceutical service available.
We believe in and support community efforts. Throughout all the years and in all those locations the pharmacy continued to evolve and modernize. We are one of the few pharmacies in Southwest Missouri that have implemented a Robotics system, which prevents cross contamination and increases the accuracy and efficiency of the prescription processes.
We are still Independently Owned and operated and proudly serve Ozark and the surrounding communities. Although technology and medications change, we are committed to caring and serving you, our customer. We thank you for your patronage and continued business. We will continue to bring you “Home Town Service with a Personal Touch” and look forward to expanding into clinical areas that will bring value & quality to our customers.
